Tools

Pinpoints

The "Pinpoint" button makes the clicks display as colorful cirlces. Clicks that show up fit within the width restrictions and calculations of your browser. Use this to see the exact locations people have clicked.

You might want to try the color tool to see the marks differently.

Heat map

The "Heat map" button makes the clicks display in lighter shades. When areas have many clicks, the color will look darker. Use this to get a visual understanding of how frequently some areas are clicked.

You might want to try the color tool to see the marks differently.

Colors

Sometimes the colors of the check marks and your web page are too close together to see easily. Try changing the colors with the color drop-down.

When you change the color selection, any pinpoints or heat map marks will change to that color.

Opacity

Sometimes it's hard to see the click marks in pinpoint or heat map modes.

You can slide the opacity meter left and right to make the web page look more or less transparent. Adjust the opacity so you can see the click marks more clearly.

Viewing clicks in

The clicks displayed on your page fit within a range of widths common to desktop/laptop computers, tablets or mobile devices. Pinpoint.Click works best on the locations of full-sized displays of your website, but it does adjust and calculate click locations for smaller devices.

If your website is responsive, or if you want to see it as it looks on mobile devices, adjust the width of your browser to your liking. Then, click the "Adjust marks to new width" button. Pinpoint.click will recalculate the location of the clicks since you changed the window width.

You may need to change the "Viewing clicks in" drop-down.

Date range

Use the "date range" dropdown to control how far back in time you want to see the recorded clicks. The maximum allowed right now is 30 days. The farther back you go, the more clicks get displayed. Tons of click marks over a broad range of time can make it difficult to understand how users are behaving.

Why don't I see any click marks?

It's possible that page doesn't have any click marks that fit within the settings.

Try different screen widths/devices and use the Device clicks tool.

It's also possible that you can't see them because of the colors. Try using the pinpoints tool, the heat map tool, the opacity tool and change colors.

I tested it and many of the click marks aren't in the right spots. Why?

The click marks may look misaligned because you are using different monitors or have changed the width of your browser window or the Device clicks tool. Since you want to see your exact tested locations, make sure those settings match your monitor.

I can't click my links. There are too many pinpoints. What can I do?

If you don't have enough space to click links, that's a great problem! You must have lots of visitors and activity. To click your links, you could try changing the settings - such as the date range or device - to expose some space. Otherwise, you could type your URL in your browser and go there directly. The Pinpoint.Click tools will follow you.

Pixel widths between

Instead of using the "View clicks in" drop-down in basic controls, you can specify the clicks you want to see on screens between the two dimensions. Enter the lowest width and the greatest width you want to see, such as 1500 and 2000 for large monitors or 400 and 600 for small mobile devices.

Click the "Activate Settings" button when you change the advanced settings to change the display.

Dates between

Instead of using the "Date range" drop-down in basic controls, you can specify the exact, unlimited date range you want to view. Set the dates in the MM/DD/YYY numeric format, such as 02/17/2018 and 10/22/2018 in the two boxes.

Click the "Activate Settings" button when you change the advanced settings to change the display.
